The UP-CMC BROADCASTING ASSOCIATION, more popularly known as BROAD ASS, is a non-stock, non-profit student organization of the University of the Philippines Diliman, based in the College of Mass Communication. The organization seeks to be the elite production outfit which provides the best hands-on training to future mass communicators. Since its founding in 1968, the org has joined the ranks of the more prominent organizations in the University. BroadAss has produced some of the more prestigious names in the industry today.

Thirty-seven years of glorious tradition and excellence have produced prominent alumni in various fields like politics, entertainment, print, radio and television media and education. Our unparallelled roster of prominent alumni, include former senator Loren Legarda-Leviste; film directors Maryo J. DeLos Reyes & Rory Quintos; film and television actresses Tessie Tomas & Malou Sevilla; singer/host Ogie Alcasid; news anchors Cathy San Gabriel & Ninna Castro; tv reporters Ninna Castro, Carlo Lorenzo and Mariz Umali; fashion designer Sari Yap and Radio personalities Raffy Bareiro, Jude Rocha and Chico Garcia.

Assers pride themselves with that distinct air only an Asser could possess – that quiet intimidation and worldliness. This largely stems from the Application, one of the most feared in the university though ironically, also one of the shortest. Where MANY have tried only FEW have succeeded. The Broad Ass Application is only for the brave and those few who are worthy of the title Asser.

Assers have proved time and again that to ASScend, ASSpire and ASStound is not equivalent to finding strength in numbers. The small number of resident members is only testament to the fact that in Broad Ass, every member works, and works their BROAD ASS off.
